Johtokunta / Board
The board of the association makes preparative work, plans the actions and develops the association, composes the exhibitions and brings up questions which are important for the artists. The social state of the artists, studio situation in Turku, art purchase of the institutions, museum and communal politics are important matters.

The association has two permanent committees,
which are gallery and residency committee.

Galleriatoimikunta / Gallery Committee
The gallery committee has a responsibility of
gallery Titanik and its exhibitions. It selects and arranges the exhibitions to the gallery and plans new exhibitions in other spaces with the members of the association.
The gallery committee has to make sure that there are enough interesting exhibition applications as well as it constantly has to look for interesting artists to keep exhibitions in Titanik. Its responsibility is to keep in mind the artistic and economical effects in the plans it makes.

Residenssitoimikunta / Residence Committee
The residency committee selects the artists-in-residence. SUMU space for new media art and Artist-in-Residence program, run by artists’ association Arte

876 Shades of Darkness
Darkness holds power, intimacy and warmth.

876 Shades of Darkness consists of several smaller undertakings, which portray darkness as a positive Nordic resource. Darkness can also be enjoyed and it can bring one a sense of calm.

The central idea is that culture belongs to everyone and everywhere: culture shall be brought into the streets, the parks and away from the centre. The majority of the events will have no admission charge in order to ensure that anyone and everyone that is interested is able to participate.

The programme involves art, science, theatre, working together and retreating for quiet time on one's own. Each portion of the project emphasises the beauty, special qualities and positive power of darkness and silence. The overall project is divided into three themes: Experiencing darkness, Lighting up the dark and Shadow of darkness.

Dates: 2010 - 2012

FIMBUL is a multi-arts studiospace for creative professionals in Turku. It is located at the old army barrack up on Pääskyvuori ( Swallow Mountain) in Turku.

We have renamed the place Fimbul since it is on Fimbul road and we moved in thru snowstorms in late February and early March 2009. In nordic mythology Fimbul means extremely harsh and cold winter - therefore it also refers to the difficulties Turku based artists have had for years – the lack of affordable atelier and workspace has been enormous – we have really lived in a fimbul winter.

Fimbul is run by the Supporter´s Club of Titanik Gallery . The Club is committed to helping artists and artisans further their careers and creative projects by providing affordable non-residential studio space.

In the future we also hope to have professional photo studios, a wood shop, a metal shop, a digital media lab, office space and a multi-disciplinary continuing art education program at Fimbul.
