SONIC SUNRISES - Nordic sound art

at the Gallery TITANIK 4th – 13th December 2009

Ellen Sofie Griegel, Norway
Janna Holmstedt, Sweden
Kristoffer Myskja, Norway
Richard Widerberg, Sweden

This year, four Nordic artists have worked at the Sumu Artist-in-Residence programme of the Artists´ Association Arte in Turku, sponsored by the Nordic Culture Point. They are now presenting the fruits of their labour at the Gallery Titanik. The works of the four artists differ a lot from one to another, but their way of using sound as an essential part of the artwork is what unites them. This is how the idea of Sonic Sunrises, an exhibition of Nordic sound art, came into being.

The following artworks are presented at the exhibition:
Ellen Sofie Griegel: ”Myriagon” - light and sound installation
Janna Holmstedt: “Environmental Dependency Syndrome” – audiovisual installation
Kristoffer Myskja: “Centrifugal sound device” – motorized sound installation
Richard Widerberg: ”Åbo-Turku sound dialogue” - collective sound installation

THE ARTISTS INTRODUCE THEIR WORKS AT THE GALLERY TITANIK ON THURSDAY, 3RD OF DECEMBER AT 3 P.M.

The event is open for all

The opening on Thursday 3rd December at 6-8 p.m.
