Residency period 15.6. - 30.6. 2007 Lishan Chang Born in Taiwan Lives and works in New York City Lishan Chang refuses to translate his artwork into words; the viewer is expected to react solely to the visuals instead. Mimicking the brushstrokes of traditional Chinese painting, he creates beautiful shapes of charred baguettes on the wall, and wraps gravestones in plastic film, as if to store memories. Chang's methods are as diverse as life, and it will be exciting to see how Turku feeds his imagination during his residency at Titanik, 16th June - 28th June, 2007. Chang's works have been exhibited extensively from the Queens Museum of Art in New York to Wei-Hsin Factory in Taiwan. He has won various awards such as the Freeman Fellowship at Vermont Studio Center and ISCP A.I.R. Program Fellowship in New York City.
