Hope Tucker

Born Memphis, Tennessee

Hope Tucker describes her current series, The Obituary Project, as "videos that replace text with moving image and elegise as they whittle down the lives of people, places and objects whose time has or will soon pass". In other words, her works draw the viewer's attention to things that are becoming somehow extinct. In Finland, Tucker's attention is initially drawn to old handicrafts, such as the weaving of fishing nets.

Tucker received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, followed by an MFA from the University of Iowa. Recently, she has been working on a project for Wexner Center for the Arts at Ohio State University.
