Artwork info:
Artwork title: Tree Story Forest

description:
This artwork constructs virtual "Forest" at inside space. It suggests to people to think again about existence of trees and evaluate ecological relationships with them, and offers new perspectives or point of view about real Forest.

This is part of project of "Tree Story Forest". Kanno first developed the concept of this sound art project. While at Residency program in Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, he enlisted American writer Stephen Ausherman to write a series of short texts about a "Tree". It is formed many speakers playing spoken-word piece. Each speaker has a reading voice by different person. These recorded stories will play about a "Tree". And when these stories are played at same time and space, Many "Tree" would construct virtual "Forest" in the air. So far, Kanno tried to record many reading voices on the his travel in Europe, US, and Asia. He has collected voices from diverse people and all those are who agreed this project's concept. This work is expected to create common values that transcend region, culture, generations and gender. And it would have a possibility that people can unite for our environment.
