I work within medias such as drawing, video and 3D-animation. During the Turku residency I will work on a new video project, my third using sampled images from the internet. The still images I collect are put together digitally and set in motion.

Here is a link to the project Catrine worked on at the
residency. The project is presented on a web-page, and called
"SLIDESHOW - your trip = mytrip".

I work within medias such as drawing, video and 3D-animation. During the Turku residency I will work on a new video project, my third using sampled images from the internet. The still images I collect are put together digitally and set in motion.

My two previous videos can be experienced as journeys. The first - “Backdrop” puts the spectator in the position of a passenger on a train or car, watching an endless forest passing by through a window. The pace of the film is slow, but the forest changes fast and seamlessly between different types from all around the world. The video has a soundtrack of birdsong and other sounds of nature, also sampled from the internet.

The second film, “Flight”, uses the same technique, but is composed of aerial photos. This has been shown as a projection on the floor, giving the feeling of looking down on the ground from a plane. The view changes rather quickly from mountains to fields of farmland, to coastlines, cityscapes and so on. The trip around the world takes about 12 minutes.

Now I have started to collect private holiday-photos from home-pages and blogs. I will try to make the ultimate home travel movie, which describes anyone’s trip to anywhere. The photos are showing how people “conquers” the great and small sights of the world, posing happily in front of their trophies.

When I assemble large amounts of material produced by separate individuals, I try to preserve the multitude of approaches and viewpoints, while unifying the material to illustrate the essence of a theme, such as “forest” or “holiday-photos”.
