The Interview of Hypothesis

Elokuun loppuun saakka Sumussa työskentelee Soyung Lee (Soul, Etelä-Korea), joka valmistelee kahta videoteosta. Toisen tekemiseen hän tarvitsee yleisön apua. 12.-17.8. kaikilla on mahdollisuus tulla Sumuun Titanikin aukioloaikoina, ja ottaa osaa Soyungin teokseen. Alla on englanniksi yksityiskohtainen selitys projektista, mutta periaatteessa hänen tarkoituksensa on järjestää Sumuun haastattelutilanne kävijöille.
Haastatteluun osallistuu vähintään kaksi ihmistä kerrallaan, joista toinen toimii haastattelijana ja toinen haastateltavana.
Haastattelussa voi puhua sitä kieltä, mikä itselle parhaiten sopii.
Haastattelija voi esittää haastateltavalle mitä tahansa kysymyksiä ja niihin voi vastata vapaasti vaikka satuillen.
Ainoa kaikkia yhdistävä kysymys on Soyungin esittämä ja se on hypoteettinen: joku tai jokin yrittää ottaa sinulta jotain.

"The interview of hypothesis is interactive project, which asks for the participation of the audience. This is an interview which lies in the hypothesis of construction of situations. The interview project is not only about contents of interviews, but also emotions and interactions heightened by performing situations. The work consists of the form of events taking place in a simple set installations and the active participation of people. During the performance at Titanik Gallery’s Sumu studio for one week, not only the contents of interviews are important, but at the same time it presents as topics, the diversity and ambiguity of interpretations to questions, various reactions of people such as a tension from talking about themselves in front of the camera, interactions between the interviewer, the interviewee and the camera in this situation.
The studio in the gallery consists of multi-layered sets. It is scheduled to project everyday images of Turku seen in the eyes of a visitor in the background of the interviewees’ seats. Monitors are installed to show real time documentations in the foreground of the camera and seats.
The method of interview is very simple. You can visit the gallery with a person that you want to interview and interview as a pair with two questions, one same set question and the other question about hypothetical situation chosen by yourselves. The interviewer can ask the set question by the interviewer’s own communication method in open interpretations and directions and the interviewee can also answer in open interpretations and directions. You can interview each other or visit alone as an interviewee. The interviewer can also have more than one interviewee.
The question for everyone is hypothetic: Someone or something is trying to take something from you (it can be you as in your body, your characteristics, personality, or your world, society, etc.). What would it be? Who or what is taking something from you? Why? How do you let it happen? How does it make you feel?"
